Visual Tracking
Silly string mazes are a great exercise. Try to do them just following with your eyes. If you can't then have the child trace with his finger too. This helps strengthen eye and hand coordination.
Try to do the maze without a pencil just with your eyes. If you can't then use your finger, if not then a pencil.
Eyecanlearn.com is an excellent resource for visual tracking games and exercises. Click the link below.
This is jump arrows. Place this sheet at eye level on the wall. Now read the arrows across like a book. Jump in the direction the arrow indicates. Now read up and down. When done take it down and rotate it and put it back up. It is a now a new game.
TO DO THE EXERCISE: Print the PDF >>>>>>>>...
Hold the print about two or three inches from your eyes, level with the center. Focus on the center and follow the arrow with your eyes to the number at the end and back to the center. Do not move the print away from your eyes, even if it is blurred at that distance. Go around the clock one arrow at a time. You can go to opposite numbers across the center as well when you get bored. Do this for 4 or 5 mins every day.
Pick a spot on the wall in front of you. Keep your eyes on the spot as you move through the motions.
THE BROCK STRING
Make the string on the left by getting a piece of string about 60 inches long. Tie a large bead in the middle, then two more, one on either side, 10 inches from the middle one. You can use any kind of bead in any colour, I found these big wooden ones. Finally tie a loop on each end so you can hook it over a doorhandle or hook or anything stable that will hold it at the right height level with your eyes. You can do this exercise sitting down.
TO DO THE EXERCISE:
Hold the string from one end and pull it taught from whatever its hooked over at the other end to just by the tip of your nose. Stare down to the first bead and relax your eyes so that you see a converging V or X shape oftwo strings meeting at the bead. Move your eyes to the next bead keeping the two string V or X shape. And on to the next and back and forth. When you get good at it, try to make the strings converge inbetween the beads as well. Do this for 5 mins every day.
